Representatives from Logson Group were delighted to attend the recent CPI Parliamentary Showcase at House of Commons as guest of the Confederation of Paper Industries (CPI).
David Richardson, CEO, and Dan Morris, Managing Director of Durham Box were invited to engage with ministers and bring on the ground accounts of what working in the paper-based packaging sector is like and the challenges it faces.
The Confederation of Paper Industries’ Paper Industry Showcase event provided a forum to foster continued engagement with policymakers by highlighting both the significant opportunities and the pressing challenges currently facing the UK’s Paper-based Industries.
The event featured seven exhibition stalls hosted by CPI member organisations, each spotlighting key areas of industry innovation, investment, and skills, one of which was hosted by Daniel and Durham Box.
These showcases are designed to facilitate open and constructive dialogue on the current state of the UK’s Paper-based Industries, and the policy interventions required to support and strengthen the sector.
David Richardson, CEO, Logson Group commented; “These types of events are key when shaping future policies which will support the continued growth and prosperity of paper-based industries including the corrugated packaging sector.
“Daniel and I were both pleased to represent the corrugated sector and Logson Group and engage in discussion and dialogue about how Government can take policy- based decisions which will help all elements of our business and those of the wider industry.”
The CPI represent the Uks paper-based industries in a variety of ways and helps to support 115,000 jobs and an annual turnover of £15bn.
David concluded; “Corrugated packaging is a key component in the stability and prosperity of UK manufacturing, retail and more and this was never more apparent than during the pandemic when our businesses were categorised as essential to keeping the country moving.
“Even in non-pandemic times it is essential the corrugated packaging sector is supported to grow and prosper, not only providing essential products and services but also promoted as a viable career for the next generation of packaging professionals.”
