COP30 and corrugated packaging

11 Nov 2025

COP30 refers to the 30th annual Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC).

This global summit brings together representatives from nearly every country to discuss and negotiate actions to address climate change, set emissions targets, and advance international climate agreements. The outcomes of COP30 are expected to influence environmental policies and industry practices worldwide, including those in sectors such as corrugated packaging.

Circular Economy theme

One of the central themes outlined on the agenda at COP30 is the promotion of the circular economy —a system that emphasises reducing waste, reusing materials, and recycling resources to create a closed-loop cycle. By shifting away from the traditional “take-make-dispose” model, the circular economy aims to minimise environmental impact and foster sustainable growth.

For sectors like corrugated packaging, the circular economy is particularly relevant, as it encourages the use of renewable materials, improved recycling processes, and innovative design to extend product lifecycles. Indeed, corrugated packaging is the very definition of a business operating in a circular economy methodology.

Whilst the circular economy will be discussed on a global platform at COP30, with countries yet to embrace such principles being encouraged to do so, in the UK these principles already align closely with ongoing industry efforts to improve sustainability.

Embracing the principles highlighted at COP30 allows the corrugated packaging industry to play a leading role in advancing resource-efficient manufacturing and supporting global climate action goals.

Logson Group and our sustainability

For many businesses this aligns with their Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) policies and Logson Group is no exception.

Much work has been taking place at all our sites to enhance our sustainability and the release of the ESG policies and stakeholder documents is imminent.

As a very brief outline our ESG goals are outlined as follows:

Environmental: We will assess our impact on the environment, such as our carbon emissions, waste disposal practices, and resource usage. We will then set goals and initiatives to reduce our environmental impact, such as investing in renewable energy, reducing waste, and using sustainable materials.

Social: We will consider our impact on society, such as our relationships with employees, customers, and communities. We will prioritise fair labour practices, diversity and inclusion, and community engagement.

Governance: We will ensure our governance practices are transparent, accountable, and responsible. This includes promoting ethical behaviour, avoiding conflicts of interest, and ensuring regulatory compliance.

By outlining self-imposing targets and outlining clear strategies as to how these will be achieved, we expect continued success and our goals to be met annually as our policy is reviewed.

Logson Group and your sustainability

In addition to the work we do to improve our own sustainability, we are also market leading at providing circular packaging solutions which help our customers achieve their own ESG goals.

We help them understand how hard to recycle packaging materials, or those not manufactured in a responsible way, can be replaced with corrugated solutions often having a positive impact on their
manufacturing and operational procedures.

Through robust packaging designs and supply chain appreciation, our solutions can help businesses meet their own industry regulations, their individual environmental, social and governance goals and help them integrate a circular economy methodology into their business.

By proactively engaging with the themes and targets that emerge from COP30, the UK packaging sector has the opportunity to demonstrate leadership in climate action, differentiate itself in a competitive market, and contribute meaningfully to broader global sustainability goals.

Logson Group can make a positive contribution to broader industry efforts to reduce carbon emissions and environmental impact weaving circular economy principles into its business operations and those of its customers.
