Award wins and happy memories of Alex
11 Oct 2024
The 2024 UK Packaging Awards will go down in the Logson history books as a night to remember.
As always it was a superb event which recognised the innovation and spirit in the UK Packaging industry.
Two of our businesses won their respective award categories – Board24 for Investment Project of the Year and Boxes and Packaging (Doncaster) for Best International Pack.
Board24 won for its Eurocentral project a huge milestone in the history of Board24 and corrugated board production in the UK. It is home to the most advanced corrugator in the country with the latest technologies making it extremely efficient, having enhanced production capabilities, and can manufacture superior quality materials more sustainably particularly important in the ongoing demand for high quality printed packaging.
Boxes and Packaging (Doncaster) Export pack for a Hi-Tech Cooker Hob claimed the 2024 title for Best International Pack. The pack has successfully been integrated into the assembly line of the customer and has navigated the supply chain via road, sea and air without any issues or product damage.
Additionally Challenge Packaging was Highly Commended for its Supply Chain Solution of the Year and Boxes and Packaging (Manchester), Boxes and Packaging (Swindon) and Jardin Corrugated, all made it to the 2024 shortlist.
It was also an evening filled with poignant memories as CEO, David Richardson, gave a short speech acknowledging our previous CEO, Alex Kelly, who passed away earlier this year.
Alex had worked in the corrugated industry for decades and was a well-known, well-liked and well-respected person. So many people in the room at the awards would have known Alex and David gave a fitting tribute to him recognising his positive spirit, sense of humour and unswerving support for his beloved Celtic and Scottish football teams!
To quote David ‘Alex was a straightforward and trusted friend who was great company. He is missed by everyone who had the pleasure to work with him.’
Thank you to everyone at Packaging News and UK Packaging Awards for allowing us to remember Alex with his industry peers, colleagues and friends.
