Logson Group welcome Alex Kelly to CEO role

Logson Group has appointed Alex Kelly, a senior figure in Smurfit Kappa’s UK business, to the role of Chief Executive, as part of plans to expand both in the UK and Europe.

Kelly joined the company on 1st November and his appointment will allow Logson Group owners Ian Loggie and Mike Stephenson to focus attention on developing the business through acquisitions, procurement and strategy.

Ian Loggie commented: “We are delighted to welcome Alex onboard, he brings a great amount of experience to the business and will be a key building block in the next stage of growth for Logson Group. Overall, it is about putting in place the very best people to make Logson the best business that it can be, and Alex’s appointment will allow Mike and I to focus on acquisitions both in the UK and across Europe as the next natural step in the in the business’ growth.”

Kelly is the latest high-profile appointment since the Logson Group brand was launched in 2010. Gavin Richardson, former managing director of DS Smith’s Tri-Wall business, joined as chief executive of Boxes and Packaging in June 2011, and Bob McLellan was announced as non-executive director following retiring from his role as chief executive of DS Smith last summer.
