Logson employees taking to the water for charity.

03 Jun 2026

Thirty six Logson Group employees are taking to the water this September as part of the 130th W&R Barnett anniversary celebrations.

Colleagues from across all group businesses will take part in a charity Dragon Boat Race on the River Lagan where they will compete against other W&R Barnett Group businesses to take the coveted winners trophy.

Three teams, captained by Emma Edwards from Boxes and Packaging (Birmingham), Hannah Hosler from Boxes and Packaging (Manchester) and Ben Turton from Challenge Packaging will rally the troops on the day, all whilst raising money for the respective chosen charities.

Emma’s crew will be racing to raise money for Let Us Play, a Wolverhampton charity that provides craft, sport and play for children with Special Needs and Disabilities (SEND).

Hannah’s crew will be taking to the water to raise money for Cure Leukaemia which funds research nurses at UK blood cancer centres, giving patients access to treatments through clinical trials.
Ben‘s crew will be paddling for Finley’s Touch which supports children with cancer across Surrey, Sussex, Kent and Hampshire.

Bernice Andrew, Group Procurement Director, Team member and Logson co-ordinator of the event said,“ It’s been amazing to see the enthusiasm of our team members to be part of this event and the desire to work together, across different companies and functions to help make it a great fundraiser.

“All of the charities chosen have a personal connection to each of our captain’s, so the desire to win will be alive and well!

“Now the aim is for our teams to try and raise as much money as possible for their chosen charities and have the best time competing on 10th September in Belfast.“

Joining Bernice and representing Logson are David Richardson, CEO; Andrew Pearson, Group Technical Director; Dan McConnell, Group Finance Director; Dan Watts, Group Health and Safety Manager and Lewis Griffiths, Technical and Compliance Co-ordinator.

Each boat will have its fundraising matched as a minimum but if they progress through the competition, the amount increases at each stage. The winner will have their fundraising matched five times their total.

The last event took place in 2021 to celebrate the businesses 125th anniversary when our 3 teams raised over £25,000. One of the teams reached the semi-final too which meant further matching from W&R Barnett Group, and the total donated to Logson chosen charities was £112,000.
